As part of our preparations for the introduction of Minimum Unit Pricing (MUP) throughout Wales on 2nd of March 2020, we have put together an FAQ to help you understand what we are doing to support our customers.

What is the new MUP rate in Wales?

What is the new MUP rate in Wales?

The new MUP rate in Wales will be 50p per unit, the same as it is in Scotland.

Will ShopMate EPoS automatically receive the updated prices on March 2nd?

ShopMate EPoS will automatically receive and display the updated, compliant prices on March 2nd unless you have Manual Price File acceptance turned on.

Will ShopMate automatically update the prices I manually set?

No. ShopMate will always honour your overrides above our own pricing. Only price changes made by us or your wholesaler will be updated. You will need to update any of your non-compliant price overrides. Our Suggested Minimum Legal Price tool can help with this.

How do I check if my prices aren’t compliant?

Our Suggested Minimum Legal Price tool can help with this. It is available in the Product Management Menu under the Pricing tab.

Will ShopMate check for non-compliant prices?

ShopMate will automatically check each transaction for alcoholic products with non-compliant pricing included. If a line price is non-compliant, an alert will appear allowing the user to update the price to above the suggested legal minimum, or ignore it.

What about my Shelf-Edge-Labels?

Whenever ShopMate receives updated pricing, the updated prices will appear in your Shelf-Edge-Label interface, ready to be printed. Be sure to do this on the 2nd of March, as soon as the updated pricing is available.
