Renting any form of space is expensive. It’s one of the biggest challenges that charity foundations face in terms of survival, especially if they don’t receive direct Government or Lottery funding. With this in mind, we have gifted some free storage space to SHEP (Stamford Housing Essentials Project) within our new building on the outskirts of Essendine, Stamford.
About SHEP
SHEP offers an emergency service for those in need of essential furniture, electrical appliances, and household items. These attributes are free of charge to individuals and families suffering crisis in the Stamford area.
Every year, SHEP supports close to 100 families and individuals in need. From providing beds, wardrobes, drawers, sofas, tables, and chairs, the charity also provides new bed linen, towels, microwaves, carpets, and small appliances to those in desperate need.
SHEP clients are not able to afford replacement essential appliances should the items stop working, or to buy beds and furniture for their growing families. Some families are re-housed to Stamford for their safety. They usually arrive with only a suitcase and the keys to an unfurnished council property. That’s where SHEP can help.
The volunteer-run project furnishes the complete flat/house, if necessary. Local care agencies – Doctor, Church, Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Foodbank – usually refer clients with funding through financial donations from local charities.
We are proud to be associated with, and assist, the Stamford Housing Essentials Project as a project for helping those with unfavourable circumstances. The items being stored are destined for those in great need.
