ShopMate Team Completed a Golf Marathon for Macmillan
On 15 July, General Manager Shaun and a select team swapped a normal working day for something far more demanding – 72 holes of golf in a single day.
That meant four full rounds. No shortcuts. No half measures. Just a long, tough course and a lot of determination – all to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
This wasn’t a typical charity golf day. It was a true test of endurance, with the team walking more than 26 miles while pushing themselves with every shot.
From the early morning tee-off to the final putt late in the day, the challenge proved to be as much mental as it was physical. Having completed a golf marathon two years ago, the team knew what to expect, but this year’s course was even more demanding, with far more hills to tackle. Fatigue set in, concentration was tested, and every swing became a little harder. But that was exactly why the challenge mattered. For many people supported by Macmillan, the challenges they face are far greater – and far longer lasting.
For Shaun and the team, the day was about pushing themselves outside their comfort zone for a cause that touches so many lives. Whether it’s friends, family, colleagues or customers, most of us know someone who has been affected by cancer. Supporting Macmillan was a way of giving something back to the people who are there when it matters most.
There were plenty of memorable moments along the way – good shots, bad shots and more than a few tired swings as the day went on – but the team’s focus never changed:
Keep going. Finish strong. Raise as much as possible.
Thank you once again to everyone who donated. If you’d like there is still time to support the cause, every donation-big or small-will help make a difference.
