Right on the high street in Bellshill, SHOP LOCAL is a brand-new convenience store already making a strong impression in the community. Open for just three months, the store is run by Noreen and her son Deano, who together lead a small but dedicated team of four.
Set in a residential area with a steady flow of commuters and school traffic, the shop benefits from a prime location near Bellshill Secondary School. With parking bays directly outside, a one-way system that keeps traffic moving, and easy access for buses, cars and even cyclists, it’s perfectly placed for quick, convenient visits throughout the day.
Built Around the Local Customer
From the outset, Noreen has focused on stocking what her customers want. While the store follows a clear planogram, the real standout categories are soft drinks, sweets, canned goods and a growing range of household essentials.
For the young customers, what really sets SHOP LOCAL apart is its impressive American candy and chocolate selection. With a mix of familiar favourites and newly launched products from the US, the range has quickly become a key driver of footfall. Competitive pricing on these lines has helped build a loyal customer base in a short space of time.
To keep up with demand from passing trade and students, the store has also introduced slush drinks and is planning to add a hot food offer with a roll-over hotdog unit-another move aimed at boosting on-the-go sales.

While still in the early stages, SHOP LOCAL is already exploring new ways to engage customers. One opportunity that stood out is in-store advertising via the MediaMaster screen at the till, allowing them to promote offers and highlight key products on promotion from their wholesaler, directly to shoppers.
