We’re very keen to reduce the environmental impact of our business. As such we have made several changes to the way we run our business which we’ve outlined below.
We have replaced the old roof on our office building to improve insulation properties and maintain an even temperature. The West facing wall has been insulated and we have securely removed asbestos from our North facing wall. In 2022 we fitted solar panels to our roof to help reduce our reliance on power derived from fossil fuels and to save money. Our offices make the most of low energy LED lighting.
We take care to be as eco friendly as possible in the products that we buy for use in our offices, as well as trying to source recycled fleeces for our team’s uniforms when we can, we buy fairtrade coffee, eco washing up liquid and plastic free, sustainable toilet rolls. We have moved our servers onto the cloud to a near net zero supplier.
We don’t have much outdoor space – but in front of our office there is a grassy bank, most of which is allowed to grow to encourage biodiversity with our policy being to mow only a small section for staff to use during the summer months.
We have paper, plastic, glass and can recycling spaces in our offices and kitchen area. Additionally, we save broken or unusable electrical waste and cables to be stripped of components for recycling.
We save incoming boxes and reuse them. Rather than use plastic bubble wrap, we have a cardboard shredder to recycle waste cardboard into suitable packing material – this is used to protect equipment when being sent out to stores. It is especially good for small pieces of cardboard that would otherwise go to waste.
